Windy Spring Day

20 Apr

Day 19 NaPoWriMo (National Poetry Writing Month)

Pine tree branches whooping in the wind like parade mascots attempting to wave their arms at the crowd

Circular, swirling like a devil up from the ground around the trunks and

tossing leaves freshly freed from snow and ice across the road

The Wind is a menace on Spring days

An imp that we love to hate

Through the dust in our eyes

We can now see the barren ground where snow drifts used to lie mere hours ago

And fragile green sprouts poking their heads up through the compost.
